sherman

The scenic Town of Sherman, incorporated in Oct. 1802, is located in the Housatonic Valley at the northern end of Candlewood Lake. We are a rural community of 23.4 square miles with a population, est. 3,581 (as of 2010). Sherman is the northern most town in Fairfield County, accessed by state routes 39, 37, and 55. Sherman has an excellent K-8 School and our high school students have a choice of four area schools to attend.

Candlewood Lake stretches from Danbury in the south, north to Sherman at a park named Veterans' Field. The lake is the largest in Connecticut. It is artificial, created for the Rocky River hydro electric power plant in New Milford on the Housatonic River. The water is pumped through a large pipe into the lake.

info stats

LAST MONTH’S DATA COMPARED TO PREVIOUS TWO YEARS

  • The industry considers Median Sales Price a more accurate look at home prices than average because it eliminates the outliers that can skew data.

  • Low inventory (new & active listings) can lead to a sellers market, especially if pending & sold listings are up. The opposite, high inventory and low sales will lead to a buyers market.

  • Months of inventory reflects an estimate of the amount of time it would take to sell all of the current listings in a given area.  Six months is considered a ‘balanced’ market. Anything under 6 months is considered a sellers market and anything above is a buyers market.
